Who can join Umuada Igbo Michigan & Great Lakes?

Membership is open to women of Igbo descent from the seven Igbo-speaking states in Nigeria who are passionate about cultural heritage, community service, and our mission. However, to join, you must be sponsored by a current member who vouches for you. This ensures we maintain the values and close-knit community that defines us.

When was Umuada Igbo Michigan & Great Lakes founded?

We were officially inaugurated on October 19, 2024.

How often does the group meet, and where?

We typically meet face-to-face two times a year—in May and in October. The rest of our meetings are virtual, on dates decided by the governing board or executives.

What are some of your proudest achievements so far?

We are especially proud of raising over $7,000 for mobile mammography units and our charitable events supporting both the Igbo community and broader causes.
