Soup kitchen outreach

August 31st, 2025

On Sunday, August 31, 2025, Umuada Igbo Michigan & Great Lakes (MIGL) proudly launched its first-ever charitable service initiative at the Crossroads of Michigan Soup Kitchen—marking a powerful step in our commitment to community impact.

Through the collective generosity of our members, Umuada Igbo MIGL donated funds to purchase food supplies used to prepare and serve meals for over 500 individuals experiencing homelessness. Our women came together in true sisterhood—planning, cooking, and personally serving a warm, nourishing meal of rice and red beans, accompanied by peach cups.

More than just a meal, this initiative reflected compassion in action. The smiles captured in the photos tell the story—of mothers and children working side by side, of laughter shared, and of the deep fulfillment that comes from giving back. Every image reflects the heart of who we are: a community of women united in purpose, service, and love.

In addition to providing meals, Umuada Igbo MIGL also made a financial contribution to support the Soup Kitchen’s ongoing programs, reinforcing our commitment to sustained impact beyond a single day.

This milestone event highlights how Umuada Igbo MIGL continues to show up for the community—supporting, uplifting, and empowering those in need. It is only the beginning of many more initiatives to come.

At Umuada Igbo MIGL, service is not just what we do—it is who we are.
